Editorial Standards
RECO Island publishes clinical content on residential mental health, addiction treatment, and integrative psychiatric care. Our editorial process is deliberately conservative: two clinicians on every clinical article, primary sources for every claim, corrections dated and visible.
Who reviews our content
All clinical articles on RECO Island are reviewed by a licensed prescribing clinician. That reviewer pool includes board-certified psychiatrists Dr. Anthony Campo (MD) and Dr. Charles Norris (MD); Medical Director Dr. Alexander Scheuermann (DO); psychiatric nurse practitioner Jacqueline Simon (APRN, PMHNP-BC); family-medicine and psychiatric NP Frances Murphy (APRN); and psychiatric physician assistant Kathleen Simervil (MSPA, PA-C, CAQ-Psych).
Author bylines credit the clinician who actually drafted the piece — often licensed clinical social workers David Levin (LCSW, CAP, CMHP) or Allison Steiner (LCSW) for psychosocial and therapy content. The “medically reviewed by” line is a separate clinician with prescribing authority. The reviewer is always a different person from the author.
Sourcing standards
We source from federal agencies (NIH, SAMHSA, FDA, CDC), the DSM-5-TR, peer-reviewed psychiatric and addiction journals, and the practice standards of the APA and ASAM. Medication information is verified against the current FDA label. Neuromodulation content is verified against FDA-cleared indications. Population figures come from federal surveys, not from advocacy summaries.
Personal recovery experience — when we include it — is anonymized, consented, and clearly labeled as narrative, not as clinical evidence. We keep the difference obvious.
How we correct errors
Please report factual errors to editorial@recoisland.com. We aim to acknowledge within three business days and to publish confirmed corrections within five. Every correction is dated and appended to the foot of the article. Any change to clinical guidance, medication information, or a stated outcome is re-reviewed by a licensed prescriber before the update goes live.
Not medical advice
The articles on this site are educational. They are not a diagnosis, not a treatment plan, and not a substitute for your own physician or licensed therapist. If you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency, call 911. For a suicidal crisis, call or text 988. For substance use crisis support, call the SAMHSA National Helpline at 1-800-662-HELP. If you are considering residential treatment at RECO Island, our admissions line is answered 24/7 — the number is in the footer, and the first person you’ll speak with is trained to listen and to help you figure out whether we’re the right fit.
