Group Therapy
Build connections and gain strength through shared experience in a supportive, facilitated setting.
Group Therapy for Addiction Recovery
Group therapy is a vital component of the treatment experience at RECO Island. In a carefully facilitated setting, patients come together to share their experiences, challenges, and insights with others who understand the complexities of addiction and recovery. These sessions provide a powerful combination of peer support, accountability, and interpersonal learning. Research consistently shows that group therapy is one of the most effective modalities for treating substance use disorders.
How It Works
Group therapy sessions at RECO Island are led by licensed clinicians who create a structured yet flexible environment for meaningful discussion and personal growth. Sessions typically last 60 to 90 minutes and follow evidence-based formats including process groups, psychoeducational groups, skills development groups, and peer support groups. Each session has a therapeutic focus, but the direction is guided by the needs and contributions of the participants. Our therapists facilitate healthy communication, challenge unhelpful patterns, and ensure every member feels heard.

What to Expect
You will participate in multiple group therapy sessions throughout each week of your stay. Groups are composed of other patients in similar stages of treatment. You are not required to share anything you are not comfortable sharing, but you are encouraged to participate as fully as you can. Most patients find that group therapy becomes one of the most meaningful parts of their treatment experience.
